Q. What is biometrics?
Biometrics is the science and technology of authentication (i.e. establishing the identity of an individual) by measuring the person's physiological or behavioral features. The term is derived from the Greek words "bios" for life and "metron" for measure.
Q. Why is a biometric solution more secure than other forms of security?
Biometrics uses a characteristic for an individual that is completely unique for that person alone. A biometric cannot be guessed, stolen, lost, lent or forgotten and is very difficult to fake or copy.
Q. How does the sensor work ?
Here's how it works: The fingerprint is optically scanned directly from the finger and the resulting image is focused onto a small chip. The chip converts the focused image into a digital file that can be processed, stored, and compared with other fingerprint images
Q. How accurate is the sensor ?
The sensor is very accurate with test results showing less than 1 in a million false entry
Q. What is the FRR ?
False Rejection Rate. Our locks offer a FFR of less than 1/100
Q. What is the FAR ?
Frequent Acceptance Rate. Our locks offer a FAR of less than 1/1’000’000
Q. How many fingerprints can you enroll on the LA9-3, 1100, 3000, 6000, 8908 and 9000 models ?
You can enroll up to 138 fingerprints on each model
Q. How long does the enrollment process take ?
Enrollment process takes less than 5 seconds
Q. Can I delete the stored fingerprints?
Stored fingerprints can easily be deleted by the administrator, using a pin code. This takes a few seconds.
Q. Do I require the original fingerprint to delete any particular fingerprint ?
No, you can delete the fingerprints without the need of the original fingerprint. Again this can only be carried out by the administrator
Q. What size batteries does the unit take and how long will the batteries last ?
The unit uses 4 “AA” alkaline batteries which last approximately 12 months
Q. What happens if the batteries run down ?
The lock will indicate when the batteries are low. You will have approximately 25 activations remaining after the low battery alert.
Q. How do I know whether I need a right hand door lock or a left hand door lock ?
If you are unsure whether you need a Left or Right hand handle lock please refer to the diagram below.

Q. Is the lock easy to operate ?
The lock is very simple to operate. It takes a few minutes to learn how to operate. Refer to the manual when changing pin numbers, enrolling or deleting fingerprints.
Q. Can the door lock be fitted to any door ?
Yes, they can be fitted to most hinged doors that are 38mm-60mm thick for the 1100 model and 30mm-60 mm for the LA9-3 model.
Q. Can I fit the door lock myself ?
The LA9-3 model is a simple lock to fit on most doors. It is an ideal replacement for most knob locks. The lock comes with a template and instructions on DIY installation!
